The many rice paddies that border the path are a great respite from the chaos of the city nearby. The Taiwanese will slap a rice paddy anywhere they can fit one - between houses and shops or sandwiched among factories and KTV bars. You've really got to admire their resourcefulness on a small, over-crowded(23million folks) mountainous island with limited flat land.
