Typhoon Haitang(named after a Chinese flower) was the first to hit Taiwan for summer 2005. With winds gusting up to 184km/h it rocked the island during July 18 and July 19 and caused more than 14million dollars in damage and claimed at least 4 lives. Luckily for us, the brunt of the typhoon was felt in the eastern and northern parts of the island leaving Fengyuan relatively unscathed.
