Occasionally, just occasionally we have our culture vulture moments and this was one of them. One of our friends, a German guy who up until recently was teaching English in Fengyuan, has recently landed a gig with the Taichung Symphony Orchestra. He's a really talented fella. He plays the violin and the viola and is the lead string instrumentalist in this ensemble(he is sitting just to the left of the conductor in the front row).
He invited us along to their performance and it was really amazing. The theme was Hollywood so we heard selections from James Bond films, Dances with Wolves, Pirates of the Carribean and one of our all time favourite films, The Sound of Music. Nipper dug it too. There was a lot of kicking and poking going on during the show, especially when the drum kit kicked in.
I tell you what, listening to that amazing performance with my hand on my wife's stomach feeling our baby moving around as the light from the stage fell upon her joyous face,....... there was no other place in the world I wanted to be. Posted by Picasa
