As is the tradition over here, the boss usually throws his staff a dinner in the weeks leading up to Chinese New Year in the hope it will bring good forture - ie: bling, bling - in the coming year.
My first dinner was with We-Go, a school I have been working at for a couple of hours a week for the past couple of years. The staff are great and the kids are a fun bunch.
As part of the evening, we all had to buy a gift worth between 300NT and 500NT and then each of us would draw a name out of the hat. Whoever's name you drew, that was person who gave you their gift.
As it worked out I drew Kevin's name and lo and behold if I didn't just unwrap a rather choice little 'dongxi'.
A hair-dryer.
Just what every 'guang tou' needs.
Don't leave home without it!
Of course there was a lot of hilarity and the obligatory hair shampoo poses from the only folically challenged person at the table(perhaps in the whole restaurant!).
Here I am hamming it up with Sugar, who has always been a great boss.
CRAZY THINGS WE HAVE GOTTA DO BEFORE TINY TEDDY ARRIVES!
- Find a great name!(harder than it sounds folks!)
- Pack Tam's bag for the hospital(NB: Include lots of chocolate)
- Glean a few tips from baby books.
- Pack Ky's bag too.Make sure it include at least one ball and his fave teddy, Karak
- Did I mention find a name?
