Tam farewells Taiwan

After a 6 day stint in the Fengyuan Hospital where our little boys condition didn't appear to be improving and with an awfully painful and, as it worked out, totally unnecessary operation looming, Tam and Ky decided to leave Taiwan and head back to Australia.

Back in Australia the finest children's hospital in the land discovered he had none of the conditions diagnosed at the Fengyuan hospital and was in great shape. What the???
We had made the right decision but before any of that happened was a rather crazy afternoon.

An afternoon of exhorbitant hospital bills, revelations of an unfair hospital system (against foreigners at least), Tam's entrapment in the ICU until the 34,000+NT(1500AUD) bill was settled, scrambling to find substitute teachers and the madness of packing with the clock ticking ever closer to flight time. Add to this our buddy Manu forgetting all about the tickets he had picked up for us from Taichung until 30mins before we were due to leave for the airport and it all made for a rather hairy, stress-filled day that we'd rather forget.

In the end it all worked out - thanks to Manu's 20min scooter- flight back from Taichung - and we hit the road for CKS and Tam and Kys' trip home.

Farewelling their favourite Australians are Emily, Flight Captain Manu and Stefan. Posted by Picasa
